Marcel del Castillo (Venezuela) , geboren 1974 in Caracas, zeigt in der STATION FOE 156 seine umfangreiche Fotoarbeit „We are like a devastated area“, die aus mehreren Blocks besteht. Die Fotos für diese Serie sind in Venezuela, Spanien, England, Irland an vergessenen, heruntergekommenen Orten entstanden - einer aufgelassenen Fabrik, einer Strasse, einem aufgelassenen Vergnügungspark, einem verlassenen öffentlichen Bad...
Marcel del Castillo sagt dazu:
“For this project I got in contact with many places which could not live in time or at least, survive the process of endless changes. Madrid in Spain, Maracaibo, Tabay, Bailadores in Venezuela, London in England or Slane in Ireland, are some of the many lands that showed me a part of those forgotten spaces.
I wonder if those rusted and neglected walls, if those places of carelessness, if those spaces of apathy, belong to us ¿Are those walls, those places or those spaces our own reflection? We are witnessing the walls falling down but we do not want to see.
We have allowed so much of our past to fall into decay - but do not attempt to hide the dereliction. We are prepared to live with devastation.”
